SHUNNING the treadmill mentality of crowded, impersonal gyms, Vision Personal Training differentiates itself from other fitness chains by offering one-on-one training only, at boutique-sized venues.

"It's not designed for gym junkies. It's a personalised service," explains Chris Jessop, who is about to open his first business - a Vision franchise in Lindfield.

Started in 2001, Vision has 20 franchises in NSW, 18 in Sydney.

With 2 1/2 years experience as an instructor at Vision's Mosman franchise, Jessop feels comfortable opening his own franchise knowing he understands the philosophy behind Vision. "I know what they are doing works for clients," he says.

In its brochure, Vision simply describes itself as "The Fat Loss Specialists". As Jessop explains, the company focuses on the four Es - exercise, emotions, eating and education.

Classes include a mix of cross training, boxing, cycling and rowing. Each session costs between $37 and $45.

Before purchasing his franchise, Jessop collected demographic information across Sydney. From this he decided his business was most likely to prosper on the upper North Shore.
